Breeding season is all but over here at Hammock Farms. Everyone is settled into the long hot and humid summer. Puntero is back at work in the dressage arena. He is such a joy to have as a breeding stallion. He lives quietly in the barn with his mares. His mares and foals are right next to the dressage arena and still Puntero is ever the gentlemen! When I call him up out of his paddock he will come running up looking all for the world like he is going to run me over. At the last minute he slides to a stop with his mane flying (Isn't that romantic!)and then usually coughs grass goo all over my shirt. Well, I guess he's not the perfect stallion after all!

Well, foaling time is over and now we enjoy working with and watching our youngsters. With only one filly this year (poor Oliana) we are contantly entertained with foal play! But, they don't just play all day. All the foals have been clipped and stand tied to get groomed and hosed. They have all been in the horse trailer and exposed to other fun and scary stuff. Pretty soon it will be weaning time! Something we all look forward to and at the same time dread!
